Study finds potential for 150 GW of additional PV at substations in Germany

A Fraunhofer IEE study estimates that battery storage could enable around 150 GW of additional PV capacity to connect at 1,313 rural substations in Germany. By absorbing generation peaks, storage could improve utilization of existing transformers while limiting average PV curtailment to around 1%.
