This position can be located at any ops center location in the St. Petersburg, FL or Orlando, FL metro areas.
**Position Summary**
Are you a hands-on, technically-skilled worker looking for a role in clean energy technology and the opportunity to grow in a developing organization? The role of the Transportation Electrification (TE) EVSE Technician - Contractor Specialist is to work both independently as well as with internal and vendor personnel to maximize the uptime of Duke Energy’s DCFC EV charging assets in the field. The TE EVSE Technician is responsible for the operations and maintenance of our public DCFC charging network across Florida, North Carolina and Indiana. This is a field-based role that may complete several site visits per day to triage, troubleshoot, repair and/or replace DCFC EV charger components both proactively and in response to outages.
Activities
- Engage daily in our Charge Point Operator (CPO) system to identify, troubleshoot and resolve charger issues, and proactively initiate corrective actions.
- When encountering EV drivers, have an open personality for conversation to promote EV acceptance and gain valuable driver satisfaction insights
- Daily travel in state for EVSE repair; must also be willing to travel overnight out of state for EVSE repairs, training and organizational meetings
- Troubleshoot and work unsupervised on high voltageDC charger systems
- Remote troubleshoot/reset of DCFCs
- Create repair tickets for work to be done by other vendors/contractors as needed
- Order and coordinate EVSE repair parts; identify and maintain company repair inventory
- Create, update and properly close job tickets for completed activities, update asset numbers, retire old assets and similar operational responsibilities.
**Responsibilities**
- Site Inspections & Maintenance: Conduct routine physical inspections, preventative maintenance, and basic cleaning of EV charging stations across our charger network
- Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve EVSE issues
- Component Replacement: Perform repairs, including replacing damaged cables, holsters, screens, circuit boards, and power electronics as needed.
- Reporting: Accurately document all service visits, repairs, and technical issues
- Engage on and develop responses to driver complaints, inquiries, and internal leadership on EVSE related issuesApprove related invoices and manage related expenditures (network and registration fees, etc.)
- Provide daily, weekly and monthly reports and metrics for the public charging network.
**Required/Basic Qualifications**
- Bachelors degree preferred
- In addition to bachelor's degree, four (4) years minimum of related work experience
- In lieu of Bachelors degree AND four (4) years minimum of related work experience listed above, high school diploma/GED AND six (6) years minimum of related work experience
- Valid Drivers License
**Desired Qualifications**
- Direct EVSE Technician experience. Preferred ABB eMobility and BTC Power systems experience/ certifications
- Possesses Distribution Customer Delivery experience
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Distribution and high voltage Safe Work Practices
- Possesses a working knowledge of Distribution design and quality standards
- Demonstrated effective leadership skills
- Demonstrated effective communication skills (oral and written)
- Demonstrated ability to be self-directed
- Possesses satisfactory work availability, during and after work hours/ 24-7 (weekends/holidays, etc.)
- Demonstrated good interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated good computer skills –Outlook and Microsoft Office products
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others and greater TE team
- Demonstrated experience in effectively handling of contract performance issues
**Working Conditions**
- Field Mobility Classification - Work location is highly mobile, working at various facilities or field locations with occasional onsite meetings after the onboarding period. Employee must live within a reasonable commute to the posted reporting location, not greater than 50 miles one way.
- This position involves primarily daytime travel, with occasional overnight trips, mostly throughout Florida, with occasional travel to North Carolina and Indiana. Travel may be scheduled in advance or arise unexpectedly on the day of travel. An EV vehicle will be provided for the position.
