This is the second level of the CAD Operator classification. CAD Operator II's utilize MicroStation, and/or AutoCAD, and AutoCAD Electrical to construct and revise protection and control electrical design drawings from engineer's or designer's markups to support generating station, switchyard, substation, and corporate projects for the construction or maintenance of electrical utility facilities.  Incumbents are expected to develop design skills in their field of study and the ability to work with greater independence.

Responsibilities:

• Prepares thorough and accurate drawings from verbal and written instructions, marked prints, sketches, field measurements, etc.
• Use and develop standards, work methods, compile blocks, and details that create more accurate and understandable drawings.
• Maintain and update electronic drawings in the company's document management system.
• Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities.
• Strives to continually improve job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance.
• Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.  Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.  Maintains accurate records and files.
• Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.

Minimum/Basic Requirements

• Associate Degree in Computer Aided Drafting Technology and 2 years relevant experience
• In Lieu of above degree, High School/GED and 7 years relevant experience.

Desired Qualifications:

• Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Experience in the utility industry.
• Experience in either MicroStation, AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical.

Working Conditions

• Hybrid Mobility Classification - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees must live within a reasonable commute to their designated Duke Energy facility, not greater than 50 miles one way. Employees are expected to report to their assigned Duke Energy facility as required and directed by their manager, on average 3 full workdays per regular workweek.
