Position Specific Description

This position is based in the Juno Beach, Florida office or may be filled by a remote employee located within the United States, with periodic travel to Juno Beach and project locations throughout the South & East Development Region to support collaboration, project development activities, and stakeholder engagement. The position supports development projects across a geographically diverse portfolio and multiple regulatory jurisdictions. This role is part of the Environmental Licensing & Permitting Section within the Corporate Environmental Services Department, supporting project development across NextEra Energy Resources and affiliated entities.

The Senior Environmental Services Project Manager provides leadership and strategic environmental guidance for a diverse portfolio of energy infrastructure projects across the South & East Development Region, including:

• Wind
• Solar
• Energy storage
• Fossil fuel facilities
• Nuclear facilities
• Electric transmission

The position serves as a senior environmental leader supporting development, engineering, real estate, transmission, and business teams to advance projects from early-stage development through construction and operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a portfolio of complex, high-impact environmental permitting projects across multiple energy technologies, states, and regulatory jurisdictions throughout the South & East Development Region.
• Supervise and develop a small team (up to 2 direct reports), providing direction, coaching, and performance management.
• Serve as a regional environmental leader, actively participating in leadership discussions and contributing to strategic project decision-making.
• Identify regional risks, trends, constraints, and permitting challenges across the South & East portfolio and determine when issues require escalation to senior management.
• Communicate clear, actionable insights to leadership regarding permitting risks, regulatory developments, stakeholder concerns, and project execution strategies.
• Provide strategic guidance to project teams on environmental siting, permitting pathways, agency engagement, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Maintain strong relationships with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, as well as key external stakeholders.
• Support consistency in permitting strategy, lessons learned, and environmental best practices across the South & East Development Region.
• Monitor emerging regulatory and policy developments and assess potential impacts on current and future development activities.
• Ensure alignment of environmental strategy with project schedules, commercial objectives, and regulatory requirements.
• Support high-priority and high-visibility projects requiring advanced permitting strategy, regulatory coordination, and stakeholder engagement.

Technical & Functional Expectations

• Demonstrated expertise across major environmental regulations, including the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and National Historic Preservation Act.
• Experience supporting permitting and development for complex infrastructure projects, including projects involving sensitive environmental resources such as wetlands and waters of the United States.
• Ability to evaluate regulatory risk and develop mitigation strategies in dynamic project environments.
• Strength in stakeholder engagement, including navigating complex or high-visibility issues.

Job Overview

This job is responsible for obtaining approvals, licenses and permits for construction and operation of new and existing company facilities from federal, state, provincial, regional and local agencies. Employees in this job serves as the subject matter expert providing specialized environmental expertise and environmental technical support to ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations and permits.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

•   Performs comprehensive environmental due diligence reviews, assists with facility compliance audits, and conducts environmental licensing and permitting activities

•   Provides specialized expertise to ensure cost effective environmental solutions that maximize operational flexibility, maximize environmental benefits for costs incurred, and contribute to improved system reliability and customer satisfaction

•   Translates regulations and permits into actionable construction compliance tasks

•   Obtains permit modifications for existing permits and obtains new permits for construction and maintenance activities

•   Provides guidance on alternatives to minimize environmental impacts

•   Identifies, tracks, and analyzes environmental construction compliance performance metrics

•   Reviews, monitors and comments on emerging legislation and regulations that might have an impact on operations compiles input and data to develop company policy and comments and positions presented to regulators

•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned
