TITLE:Senior Engineer, High Voltage Development

EMPLOYER: AES Clean Energy Services LLC

LOCATION:282 Century Pl, Ste 2000, Louisville, CO 80027 (Hybrid role; part time telecommuting authorized; 25% travel to site visits and factory inspections)

DUTIES:Lead conceptual, preconstruction, and construction phase engineering for Solar, Wind, and BESS high voltage (35–500 kV) substations and generation tie lines. Develop conceptual designs and scope of work documents for permitting, estimating, and regional renewable projects in alignment with AES and utility standards. Manage external engineering consultants through development of 30% design packages for substations and transmission facilities. Perform in-house high voltage design work and support cost estimating, including BOM reviews and substation expansion assessments. Conduct technical due diligence to derisk project pipelines and Merger & Acquisition portfolios, serving as project engineer for all high-voltage functions. Review EPC substation bid packages for compliance with interconnection agreements, NERC standards, AES standards, and industry best practices. Provide design reviews and identify technically incorrect or inconsistent documentation, highlighting critical risks early in project development. Coordinate with interconnection providers (CAISO, HECO, Xcel, Tri State, PacifiCorp, etc.) to ensure compliant collector substations, gen tie designs, and switchyard requirements. Collaborate cross functionally with real estate, permitting, commercial, legal, estimating, PV/Wind/BESS engineering, preconstruction, and construction teams. Demonstrated experience across DC coupled, AC coupled solar plus BESS, wind, and multiphase project designs, and in maintaining relationships with specialist HV consultants and contractors.

REQUIREMENTS:Job requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field and 6 years of experience in high voltage design or a related field. This position also requires experience in the below:

SALARY:The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $156,354 to $159,500/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes annual bonus. The benefits offered for this position are: medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, 401(k) eligibility, and paid time off (including vacation, sick leave time, and parental leave).
