Position Specific Description

This position is part of a growing team in the Renewable Operations Integration (ROI) organization within the Power Generation Division (PGD) and sits within the Third-Party O&M Services Team. In this role, you will work directly with the Third-Party O&M Services Team, external site owners and a broad spectrum of subject matter experts (SMEs) from both PGD and throughout NEE to support P&L analysis, financial modeling, supporting deal structuring / pricing for new service agreements, customer requests and help navigate complex, commercial issues. Additionally, this role will support automation, standardization, and the development of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for the Third-Party O&M Services, as well as opportunities to present portfolio insights, findings, and recommendations to senior leadership.

The ideal candidate will need to be commercially minded, detailed oriented with strong analytical abilities and can approach projects with creativity and entrepreneurial thinking with little to no supervision. These projects will be focused on automation and process improvement of number of activities within ROI and across the organization.  Candidates will need to have a strong level of understanding of Excel, PowerBI and PowerPoint. Prior experience with SAP Financial and BOBJ is preferred.

Responsibilities Include:

• Extracts, organizes, analyzes, and distills data into ready to consume insights that are useful for driving business decisions
• Executes process improvement projects using Six Sigma principles
• Provides plan/forecast analysis including comparisons to original budgets or prior forecasts
• Collaborates effectively with multiple internal departments and external stakeholders – Engineering, Operations, PGD Cost & Growth, Third-Party Owners, Business Management, IT to present findings and drive total cost decisions
• Develops broad technical and communication skills through self-study and internal and external training opportunities
• Manages internal controls processes and identifies and mitigates control weaknesses
• Utilizes Power BI to develop KPIs and dashboards for senior leadership
• Conducts analyses regarding issues impacting the operating portfolio and makes recommendations to management on opportunities for improvement
• Prepares PowerPoint presentations to senior leadership on issues impacting the business
• Develops, maintains, and enhances financial models used to support Third-Party operations
• Maintains close working relationships with customers and stakeholders
• Various ad hoc financial analysis as required
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

The Ideal Candidate Would Have the Following:

• Bachelor’s degree or master’s in finance, Engineering, Business Management and/or CFA
• 3+ years of relevant analytical experience
• Strong analytical skillset, including the utilization of BI and reporting tools
• Strong quantitative abilities
• Able to solve complex problems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to build relationships
• Strong influencing and interpersonal skills
• High level of commercial acumen
• Six Sigma Certification; Yellow Belt or higher (preferred)

Job Overview

This job assists in the execution of the Corporate and NextEra Power Generation business processes. With limited guidance, employees in this role are responsible for O & M and capital budget preparation and reporting, cash flow management, and financial analysis and reporting. Individuals plan, schedule, communicate, and coordinate the annual budgeting process, the monthly re-forecasts, and month-end close for the site, and ensure that all transactions are in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley. Employees in this position also focus on the continuous improvement of spending, risks and opportunities, and costing methods in accordance with corporate policy and business objectives.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Performs all cost accounting activities including variance analysis, standard cost development, activity-based costing, and inventory control
• Provides financial leadership by supporting Operations leadership in decision-making and strategy development
• Supports new lines of business and finds ways to reduce overhead costs per job
• Provides reporting and analysis for all operations activity including productivity, capital and overhead spending, forecasting, budgeting, absorption, sales, and inventory and operations planning
• Prepares and distributes financial reports and indicators and explains financial results to non-financial audiences
• Communicates and explains operational performance through P & L
• Collaborates effectively with colleagues from all departments
• Leads and executes process improvement projects using Six Sigma principles
• Manages internal controls processes and identifies and mitigates control weaknesses
