PMC is the Project Management and Construction group within Duke Energy, responsible for building our new power generation assets and is in the early stages of the largest buildout in the history of the company.  As part of Duke Energy’s broader strategy to meet rising customer demand and decarbonize the grid, PMC is actively planning and building renewable solar and bulk energy storage, new simple and combined cycle turbines, as well as developing projects for advanced nuclear, pumped storage hydro, and other emerging technologies. PMC is accountable for the development, design, construction, and commissioning of new generating facilities.

Within PMC, Lead I&C Engineer is responsible for technical management of all phases of project planning and execution to ensure project success factors are met.  These include but are not limited to scope, schedule, cost, quality, environmental, safety, communications, security, and integration. The lead I&C engineer will manage the DCS purchase, design and commissioning of the control system for each project.  This position provides technical leadership and management for a matrixed team of engineers and other technical staff. The lead I&C engineer provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of complex problems in area of expertise with the ability to visualize long-term results and assess impacts on a system-wide basis.

Responsibilities

The I&C Engineer works as a member of the project team to support all phases of major projects, from initial project scoping and development to final project close-out.  These responsibilities include:

Basic/Required Qualifications

Must have obtained Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program and/or PE

Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience

State registration as a Professional Engineer.

A master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree

Desired Qualifications

Strong working knowledge Emerson Ovation control system and Allen – Bradley PLCs

Understanding basic engineering theories and principles.

Understanding basic practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations.

Good written and oral communication skills.

Working Conditions

Hybrid– Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the

onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to       their designated Duke Energy facility.

Travel – 5-25%

Specific Requirements

Required to wear personal protective equipment (hardhat, safety glasses, clothing, earplugs, fall protection, etc.) as needed.
